Platinum Batin Hurut, also known as Patih Mas in native language, is an excellent river fish newly cultivated by Malaysian river fish expert James Wong. It is a combination of Batin (black species) and Batin Buah in Malaysia. Platinum Batin Hurut has a beautiful appearance; the fry is pinkish grey in colour whilst the adult fish becomes lighter. Platinum Batin Hurut has delicious meat and few small bones. It lives in clusters and inhabits slightly above the riverbed. The Platinum Batin Hurut has a lively temperament, often swimming to the river surface to breathe, although it has strong tolerance to hypoxia.
The flesh is extremely smooth, and the belly area is rich in blubber.
Steaming is the ideal cooking method for this delicacy.
